Achievements & Congratulations

AFF Course Graduates this week: ⭐️ Chloe, ⭐️ James,⭐️ Jade, and ⭐️ John

Milestone: ⭐️ Charleen – 200th Jump

Drop Zone Action

The DZ was buzzing with Students, Tandems, B-Rels and heaps of stoked Fun Jumpers. Big highlights were Chloe, James, Jade and John all finishing their AFF Courses with Stage 9 – congrats legends! It was a packed week at the DZ with plenty of action both on home turf and in the sky – including the QLD Skydiving State Championships, where the crew at Toogs showed up strong against NSW in the Skydiving State of Origin!

🏁 AFF Course Students

Welcome to the sport to our newest Students: Jordy, who did his first jump – learning the fundamentals of Freefall Skydiving Techniques and Canopy Handling Skills. Emma and Lachlan both smashed through Stages 1-3.

Congratulations to Chloe and James, who both punched out the entire AFF Course in just one week with Stages 1-9! Also, congrats to Jade for completing her AFF Course after doing Stages 7-9, and to John, who wrapped it up with Stages 8-9.

Albin, Clint and Craig sat in on the First Jump Course with Bill on Monday as a refresher.

Thanks to AFF Instructors Toddy, Rebecca, Robin, Ash, Wayne and Millie for keeping the progression strong and the smiles wide.

☀️ B-Rels, Coach & Fun Jumps

Chloe wasted no time and started on her B-Rels 1+2 straight after finishing her AFF Course.
Matthew did three Coach jumps – one of them being his B-Rel 5.
William also knocked out his B-Rel 5, doing it with his dad Ben on the same jump – nice one!
Olavo did a refresher, keeping the skills sharp.
And a massive shoutout to Charleen, who celebrated her 200th jump with a nudie skydive – what a way to mark the milestone!

Thanks to Coaches Toddy, Bec and Ash for guiding our jumpers and keeping the progression rolling.

🪂 Tandems

Our Tandem jumpers this week were: Riley, Rory, Natalie, Aaron, Travis, Dwaune, Ryan, Julie, Matthew and Johnathan.

Natalie left this amazing note in the visitor book:
“BEST THING I’ve EVER DONE in my life! Thank you. … Jared, my son, Nicki, Adam & Ramblers. I’ll be back!!!”

Big cheers to those who took the Video/Photo Package to capture that unforgettable first jump! And an extra thanks to everyone who left reviews – your words inspire the next generation of skydivers.

Thanks to our Tandem Masters Robin and Ash. Good on Adam, who is training to become a Tandem Master, doing a jump with experienced jumper Travis.

🎯 Competition: QLD Skydiving State Championships

Over the weekend, the QLD Skydiving State Championships were held at Toogs, with others joining virtually from Far North Freefall. It was a true Skydiving State of Origin showdown between QLD and NSW – great energy, epic jumps, and plenty of team spirit.

The Meet Director for the championships was Ben Nordkamp. We had a total of 14 teams competing in 4-way formation skydiving, with 8 of them local. There was one Wingsuiter and 4 Speed flyers adding some extra variety to the competition. In the 4-way Blast category, our Team Rapid Unplanned Disassembly took out first place – Gold! Team Department of War came in 3rd (Keep an eye out for some awesome photography by Steve Fitchett capturing all the action.).

In Vertical Formation Skydiving, our Team Downward Dodds claimed first place – congrats! In the Freestyle discipline, first place went to Team WD40, featuring Amandine and Wade. Huge congratulations to all competitors and everyone involved in making this awesome event happen — what a fun comp!

🌤 Upcoming at the DZ

Next week (Monday 6th to Friday 10th October) is Learning Curve Camp – a full week of coaching, canopy drills, and skill building. Come on out for some quality midweek loads and dial in those jumps!

Cheers to everyone who made it out, helped out, jumped in, or just brought the good vibes. Here’s to blue skies ahead…
Catch you in freefall,
The Ramblers Crew

Qld Champs – by Chris Dodds

“Do skydiving weekends get much better than this? This year’s QLD State Championships were absolutely MASSIVE!!

Between Skydive Ramblers and FNFF, this year’s competition hosted an incredible 15x 4-way FS teams, 6x VFS teams, 4x Speed, 1x Freestyle, and 1x Wingsuit Performance. Skydive Ramblers alone had a total of 62 competitors taking part across the weekend to a backdrop of crystal-clear blue skies! Massive thanks to all you legends who took part and making it the best competition ever – and huge congratulations to all our medalists!! We shall let you all know ASAP when we have the date for the Ramblers medal ceremony.

Special mention to our meet director – Ben Nordkamp – who had the herculean task of managing the logistics of such a big comp and for making it run like a well oiled machine, our awesome ground coaches – Alan Moss, Luke Richardson, and Natisha Dingle, and big shout out to our resident poolside DJ Jared for spinning the tunes and keeping the summer festival vibes pumping non-stop! Also, huge kudos to Michael Young, who effortlessly juggled the roles of dubber and outside photographer!

As ever, these events would not be possible without our generous event sponsors, Skydive Ramblers, TSC, and SQPC and our prize sponsors – Cookie Helmets, iFly Gold Coast, FLOW Rigging, and Nordy’s Rig Hire.”
