What a week at the DZ! We welcomed new AFFStudents, celebrated Phillip smashing through to complete his AFF Course, saw plenty of action with Coach & B-Rel jumps, and had a busy line-up of Tandems. To round out the week, Miles Cottman ran the “A2C” Canopy Course, keeping our Fun Jumpers sharp and progressing in style.
🏁 First Jump Course & AFF Progression
First Jump Course students Daniel and Joel completed Stages 1 & 2 — welcome to the sport!
Robert returned with a refresher on AFF3, then went straight to AFF6 to continue his course. Nikita ticked off Stage 6. And congratulations to Phillip who completed Stages 6–9, finishing his AFF Course!
Thanks to instructors Toddy, Robin, Bec, Ash and Shani for guiding our students with patience, skill and encouragement every step of the way.

Big cheers to those who took the Video/Photo Package to capture that unforgettable first jump! And an extra thanks to everyone who left reviews — your words inspire the next generation of skydivers.
⭐ Fun Jumpers Action
Miles Cottman ran the “A2C” Canopy Course (28–29 Sept.), aimed at A- and B-Certificate holders progressing toward their C-Certificate and beyond. The course focused on realistic goal setting, smart progression, one-on-one jumps, knowledge, accuracy, and safety.
The event was partially funded by the APF — big thanks for supporting canopy development!
Cheers to everyone who made it out, helped out, jumped in, or just brought the good vibes. Here’s to blue skies ahead…

A2C Canopy Course – with Miles Cottman
“Last weekend I had the privilege of putting nine of Ramblers’ newest up and comers through a canopy course. Part of the APF’s A2C program, the course is aimed at Cert A and B holders with the plan of making sure they stick around for a long time to come. Thankfully, due to the solid foundation laid out in their AFF courses and subsequent jumps, we were able to progress at a steady pace, with all participants showing quantifiable improvements.
For me, the aim of these courses isn’t just to get people to a point where they feel competent under canopy. It’s not just to improve accuracy, or to be able to pass a written exam, or to do a “perfect” flare in all conditions.
The single most important thing for me on these courses is that people begin to feel comfortable under canopy. That they can start to enjoy the canopy flight, rather than think of it as the end of a skydive. Because when people begin to enjoy canopy flight, that’s when they start taking their canopy progression, and by extension their canopy safety, seriously.
Everyone in our sport – from the tandem student to the 50-year veteran – knows that the hardest thing about skydiving is the ground. But the ground isn’t our enemy. It’s only because of the ground that we find jumping so fun!
Through gear confidence, knowledge, practice and patience, we can also learn to enjoy the ground BECAUSE it interacts with our canopy flight, not despite it. And if you don’t believe me that the ground is such an integral part of canopy flight enjoyment, then go ask Sam, Leanne, Jason, Dani, Emma, Riva, Fran, Jake or Victoria if they let out a little cheer after a buttery smooth touch down right next to the cross.
If you want to get on a canopy course so you too can enjoy the part that makes up over 80% of our air-time experience, don’t hesitate to reach out to me any time.”

"The video was amazing and it has been forwarded to my friends in UK Ireland NZ Singapore Malaysia and India and they are really impressed. I want to say a special special Thanks to Robin. He gave me all the confidence I needed as I was very nervous at the start. I couldn’t have done it without him! Thank you."
