On Monday the 9th of June, Dylan joined the First Jump Course classroom session with Sara for refresher training. He already holds a C-Certificate but hadn’t jumped in a while, so it was great to help him get back in the air. And on Saturday the 14th, Bill ran his FJC with Sam and Gabrielle, who each started with Intro Packages, while Mitchell signed up for a 15 Jump Package. David P. also sat in as a refresher. Keen crew all around – love to see it!
⭐ Student Progression
We had a solid week of progression in the student ranks.
Mitchell got stuck straight in with his Stage 1, and both Gabrielle and Samuel James completed Stages 1 and 2. Phillipcharged through Stages 1, 2, and 3 – great effort!
Continuing their skydiving journeys were: Tian Long on Stage 2, Lachlan completed Stages 2 through 4, Sabrina moved up to Stage 4, David P. completed Stages 4 to 6, while Jack and Morgan each ticked off Stages 5 and 6. Kyle also jumped ahead with Stage 6.
Big thanks to our instructors Robin, Toddy, Marc, Paul, Mildred and Pete for keeping the progression flowing smoothly and collecting video grabs for our weekly photo albums.
☀️ Coach & B-Rel Jumps
Jiayu was busy coaching this week, helping Matthew with his B-Rel 1, Josh with his B-Rel 6.1, and Francisco with both B-Rel 6.1 and 6.2. Great job all round!
Mitchell G. also returned to the sky for a refresher jump with coach Adam. Awesome to see everyone keeping up their skills and staying sharp — the sky’s more fun (and safer) that way!
🪂 Tandems
We welcomed a bunch of keen Tandem skydivers this week. With Handicam video and stills were: Adam, Tristan, and Brock.
Tristan shared in our Guest Book: 🖋“Crew super friendly and make sure you’re comfortable, amazing sights.”
Brock added: 🖋“Best experience in a lifetime, best birthday present, the view felt like paradise, always come here!”
Jen, Kristin, and Emanuele took home awesome videos, while Elijah, Isaac, and Kali were happy to enjoy the ride without any footage.
Tina took it one step further, getting the Outside Camera flyer package with video and stills, thanks to Alex. This was a very special jump for her — see the story below about remembering Don.
Big cheers to those who took the Video/Photo Package to capture that unforgettable first jump! And an extra thanks to everyone who left Reviews — your words inspire the next generation of skydivers.
🙏 Cheers to everyone who made it out, helped out, jumped in, or just brought the good vibes. Here’s to blue skies ahead for all you fun jumpers…
Catch you in freefall,
The Ramblers Crew 🪂

Memorial Jump (14th June 2025)
HonouringStanley Donald Mellow1938 ~ 2025
“My pops, Stanley Donald Mellow, was my grandfather — a proud veteran with 20 years of service in the Air Force. Even after retiring, his love and passion for flying never faded. His favourite flying areas were Watts Bridge, Toogoolawah, Laidley, and Gatton, and so, my family decided to give him a special send-off and let him fly free in the skies he loved so much.
He passed away on the 7th of April this year at the age of 86, just a little over a month shy of his 87th birthday.
Although the freefall release didn’t go quite as planned, we were still able to release his ashes under Akalia’s canopy, giving him a gentle ride through the sky. Sharing the jump with me were Akalia Laxton, Kim Holbein, Scott Ferrar, Denzil Clarus Saldanha, Charleen Herrmann, Matthew Baker, and David Shoben. David Brown captured the moment on outside camera, and my cousin Tina Mellow honoured Pops with her own send-off on a Tandem skydive with Robin, accompanied by Alex Lay flying outside camera.
The team at Ramblers organised the yellow plane specifically for the memorial jump, which made the day feel even more personal and meaningful. It was really special to have the plane to ourselves, and to share that quiet moment in the sky with those involved. A huge thank you to Koppel from Mee Loft for creating the ashes release bag — my family has donated it to Skydive Ramblers so it can be used for future memorials like this one.
To everyone who helped prepare for the jump, who joined us in the air, and who were there on the ground to support us — thank you. Your presence and care meant the world to me. This jump wasn’t just about saying goodbye. It was about setting Pops free, and I know now that he’s out there — forever flying in the sky.”
Kristin M.: “I did my first tandem jump with Skydive Ramblers & it was absolutely incredible. Everyone was so chill & friendly, I knew what to expect & felt in good hands.I would 10/10 recommend 🙌🏻”

I have been to Toogoolawah for 3 tandem jumps so far. I am trying to make it a yearly event. I love the atmosphere out there in the bush, with the kangaroos around.
