Drop Zone Action

What a week! We had big milestones, learning curves, world records, and just the right amount of mischief (including a 100th jump nudie… but more on that below). The July Learning Curve Camp was in full swing, the weather mostly played ball, and the sky was buzzing with progression.

Here’s the lowdown from the week that was.

🏁 First Jump Course

On Saturday the 12th of July, Lelind joined the First Jump Course classroom session with Bill, ready to start a 20 Jump Package. And Jared S. came along for a Refresher to get current again.

The July Learning Curve Camp ran from Monday through Friday, with great weather for students and experienced Fun Jumpers alike. We only had one windy weather day, but our instructors made the most of it with ground training. Seminars covered monthly gear maintenance, weather reading, packing, spotting, jump run procedures, and the B-Certificate exams.

⭐ Student Progression

Welcome to the sport: Xinju and Nikita, who both completed Stages 1 and 2, plus Lelind, who knocked off Stages 1 to 3 this week.

Ongoing students included Jacob (Stages 4–9), Sofiene (Stages 5–9), and Samuel James (Stages 5–7), all making great progress.

🎉 Congratulations to the following students for completing their AFF Courses this week:
William (Stages 4–9), Sabrina (Stages 5–9), Kyle (Stages 7–9), and Aysha, who finished her course with Stage 9.

Also worth a special mention—Sam and William travelled all the way from New Caledonia with their father and skydiver Ben Moreton to complete their skydiving courses with us here at Ramblers. It was great to watch the whole family sharing the sky. Like father, like sons!

☀️ Coach & B-Rel Jumps

It was a solid week of learning and levelling up! Here’s the rundown of B-Rel and coach jumps:

William M. completed B-Rels 1–4, Leanne completed B-Rel 4 and Louis finished B-Rel 5. Luke completed B-Rels 1–5 and Samuel M. completed all B-Rels up to 6.3 with Adam. And Samuel F. finished B-Rel 6.2 with Toddy. Victoria smashed out B-Rel 4, and Scott knocked off B-Rel 6.3, both went with Li. Morgan did B-Rel 1 and Alistair did B-Rel 6.1, both with coach Travis. And Jared G., Alexey, and Jay Thomas also jumped with coach Travis. Sabrina did coach jumps with Ashley and Jared jumped with Lisa.

Great to see so much progression in the sport—this is what the Learning Curve Camp is all about!

🌍 World Skydiving Day – Belly Bash Edition

Saturday the 12th of July was World Skydiving Day, and we celebrated in style! Chris Dodds and Dawn Adams ran a special edition of the Belly Bash, where both Marj and Homer ✈️ flew side by side for formation loads. Jumpers exited both planes at the same moment to build big formations in freefall—talk about precision!

Michael Young and David Brown captured some brilliant videos and photos of the action. Make sure you check out Michael’s photos in the gallery below. Thanks to everyone who helped make this epic day happen. It was one for the books!

🪂 Tandems

We had a bunch of Tandem passengers take the leap this week: Alan, Hugh, Brenton, Reuben, Kyle, and Saei (who spread some exciting family news under canopy, all caught on Handycam!).

We also welcomed Shannon and Lara, a mother and daughter duo, plus Logan, Cameron, and Holly.

Big cheers to those who took the Video/Photo Package to capture that unforgettable first jump! And an extra thanks to everyone who left reviews—your words inspire the next generation of skydivers.

Here’s what Shann Finn and Lara Prince had to say after their jump together:

“Robin & Chloe were absolutely amazing. We both had the best time and can’t wait to do it again. Such an easy, fun, rememorable experience.”

Cheers to everyone who made it out, helped out, jumped in, or just brought the good vibes. Here’s to blue skies ahead…

Catch you in freefall,
The Ramblers Crew 🪂

WORLD SKYDIVING DAY ( Sat. 12th July)

BELLY BASH Formation Loads

“Well, I hope you all enjoyed World Skydiving Day as much as we did!!  What better way could it possibly have been spent than by doing formation loads on a spectacular day of wall-to-wall blue skies?

We started things off by launching groups of 5 BellyBashers from each plane and building 10-ways in the air whilst practicing 2 stage break-offs and tracking groups in readiness for the bigger formations.  We then moved onto 14-ways, and then upped the ante by having two cracks at a really ambitious 28-way!!  We were sooo close to completing the formation on the second attempt!!! 😁

Well done to all you absolute legends – many of you had never done formation loads or tracking groups before.  The progression across the day was incredible!!   Also, congratulations to our 12 lucky dip prize draw winners who went away with generous prizes from our awesome sponsor Mee Loft!!!

Massive thanks to Skydive Ramblers for allowing us to put this on and helping us run things smoothly,  to Toogoolawah Skydivers Club Inc and Queensland Parachuting Association – NQPC and SQPC for sponsoring us, and as ever to our legendary camera flyers Michael Young and David Brown!!

Hopefully see you all for the next BellyBash on the 2nd August!!”

This was my first time, with Ty as my instructor.
It was totally amazing experience and Ty was impressive as an instructor. He checked in all the time from start to finish making you feel safe and reassured. Free falling was the best experience and highlight of the jump. Thank you to the whole team . Definitely will be back. Loved it.
