Drop Zone Action
We had a great 2 weeks of skydiving action. The weather was on our side at long last. A bunch of students returned and smashed out a lot of AFF jumps over the last 2 weeks, It was great to see everyone having a great time learning and making new friends. A lot of new achievements to add.
We had 3 events being run over the last couple of weekends. Vertical Decent, Canopy Course and Burn Camp. Great to see the different dynamic of flying and skills achieved.
Students Frazer, Jared, Jayesh, Cameron, Jay, Sean, Daniel, Sabrina, Margot, Michael, Scott and Scott returned. And we welcomed our new AFF student Josh. B-Rel Coach jumps were done by Jason, James, Akalia, Glenn, Peter, Scott, Dan and Dakota.
Tandem jumps were done by Isaac, Cheryl, Roxanne, Rhett, Griffin, Grace, Brock, Taylor, Ryan, Sophie, Harrison, Isaac, Jennifer, Lauren and Philip. Congratulations!
Vertical Descent 3
“Vertical Descent 3 was held at Skydive Ramblers last weekend on August 3 & 4. This was an intermediate Static Head Down event consisting of 2 groups, 8 way and 6 way.
The weather was absolutely perfect with nil winds and clear blue skies all weekend! Coaches Matt and Dave took 12 participants to the sky with Matt Smith on outside camera and Safe, Fun, Progressive jumps were had by all. Some awesome formations were built and it was great to see the progression from the return flyers and also seeing the level of the new participants with a few people travelling from Sydney and Darwin to attend!
A big shout out to Adam Harmey for running a great First Aid/ incident management seminar on Saturday night!
Special thanks to Skydive Ramblers and all of the team, SQPC and TSC for their continued support. Looking forward to VD4.”

Burn Perspective – Ramblers Camp
“Burn Ramblers saw Rob Wylie, Ryan Dudderidge and Tommy Siera travel to Toogoolawah for another great winter skills camp. The forecast wasn’t in our favour but everyone still turned up ready to jump (or listen and learn from the coaches). However the weather was great all weekend and everyone did 8 jumps total.
We had a pretty even mix of burn regulars and first timers to our camp. It’s safe to say they were very happy and are already keen for another Burn camp.
The groups consisted of an advanced group, working on more technical jumps including transitions, carving and vertical pass throughs. the other groups were intermediate, focusing on exits, slot control, increasing speed and flying together as a group. With sufficient time between loads and in-between the briefs and debriefs we were able to provide information to the participants on weather and flight plans, gear maintenance, correct gear checks and canopy advice.
Burn Ramblers was a success helped people keep current though winter and help them prepare for the up coming Burn Funny Farm event. Thanks to The APF, SQPC, TSC, Skydive Ramblers and all our participants for making this event possible.”
