Skydiving Lessons, Courses and Packages

Learn to Jump! Do the course. Become a qualified skydiver and enjoy a new life full of incredible fun, real adventure, new friends and freefall - yahoo!

Ramblers specialise in skydiving/parachuting instruction and have been teaching people to jump since 1974! With our skydiving lessons we have taken people with no experience through all levels to become competent and qualified skydivers, competitors, Instructors and even World Champions.

There are two training courses available at Ramblers:

  • AFF Accelerated Freefall Skydiving and Parachuting Course.
    9 jumps. This is the modern method of teaching skydiving.
    All training jumps are from 14,000'.
    Skydiving is introduced on your first jump. You freefall for a minute.
    Then there is a four minute parachute ride. Then the landing. 
     
  • SL Static Line Parachuting Course.
    16 jumps. This is the traditional method of learning parachuting.
    There is no freefall or skydiving on your first jump which is a static line from 4,000', with an immediate parachute opening.
    There is a four minute parachute ride. Then the landing.
    Skydiving is introduced after 6 static line jumps.

Ramblers offers courses seven days a week at their Toogoolawah Drop Zone
Training and jumps happen daily, weather permitting.


AFF Course Information

The biggest fun factor of jumping is the freefall and the AFF course give you plenty of that!  The course consist of nine stages/jumps in total, eight of which are freefall jumps from 14,000 feet - that's over one minute of freefall every jump - yahoo!

The AFF course is designed for beginners with no experience. All equipment is supplied. The course gives you the knowledge & experience to become a qualified and licensed skydiver, as laid down by the regulations of the Australian Parachute Federation. The course covers freefall skydiving and parachuting techniques with particular emphasis on freefall sequences, body position, safety, parachute canopy flight, landings and FUN.

AFF Course Packages:

Stage 1 and First Jump

Complete the First Jump Training Course – a full day of theory and ground training.
Make your first jump in the afternoon.

‘Introduction’ Package

3 jump package over 2 days
Complete Stages 1, 2 and 3 of the AFF Course over a 2 day period (weather permitting).
This is an ideal package for people who want to check it out without committing to the full course and for people and travellers with time and financial restraints. The AFF course with Ramblers is recognised worldwide allowing you to continue through the course at other Australian and overseas drop zones.

The ‘Introduction Package' includes three AFF Course jumps plus free bunkhouse accommodation, a log book, T-shirt and membership to the Australian Parachute Federation.

‘Completion’ Package

Full Course 10 jump package over 5 days
Complete all required nine jumps of the AFF course over a 4-5 day period (weather permitting). This package is ideal for travellers and local south Queenslanders alike. By completing the course in a short time frame you are creating the best learning environment possible and maximising your skills.

The ‘Completion Package' includes all nine jumps of the AFF Course plus free bunkhouse accommodation, packing course,  a log book and T-shirt PLUS a BONUS jump including equipment hire and packing for FREE!

'Accreditation' Package

Full Course, 'A' Licence, 15 jump package over 6 - 8 days

This is a streamlined package designed to help you achieve your 'A' Licence is as few jumps and little time as possible. The package includes the 9 jumps of the AFF Course, plus 6 extra jumps, full packing course, bunkhouse accommodation, log book and t-shirt.

Please note that this package does not guarantee your 'A' Licence as this depends on your skills in the air and under canopy plus being able to land your parachute accurately and consistently without assistance. However please also note that it is feasable to obtain your 'A' in as few as 12 jumps and 4 days - if everything goes very well.

‘Addiction’ Package

‘A’ Licence 20 jump package over 7-10 days
The ultimate skydiving holiday! This is the most mind-blowing adrenaline packed holiday you are ever likely to experience – spend a full week (or longer) skydiving and achieve your ‘A’ Licence – that’s your open licence to skydive anywhere! Yahoo!

The ‘Addiction 20 jump Package' includes all nine jumps of the AFF course and 11 extra skydives. All stages of the course are videod onto a DVD.  On completion of all AFF stages you go for a dedicated photoshoot jump with an instructor using an HD digital stills camera.  All gear hire for the 20 jumps is included plus you will become a member of the Gear Hire Scheme giving you cheaper gear hire for 12 months after the package is completed. Included is 2 month membership to the Australian Parachute Federation. You receive a 200-jump log book, skydiving  goggles and a T-shirt. You also complete your packing course accreditation, and you will achieve your ‘A’ Licence. Caravan accommodation is included. This package gives you over $350 worth of extra value.


Static Line Course Information

Static Line Training is the origional method of learning to skydive.  As it is a cheaper method to learn to jump it is ideal for younger people, students, people on a budget and for anybody who would simply prefer to learn parachuting first and then move on to skydiving. 

The First Jump Course is similar to the AFF First Jump Course except there is no skydiving instruction or training. The Course starts in the morning with theory and practical training, including landing rolls, emergency proceedures, canopy control and exit practice. You do your first jump late in the afternoon.

Your first and second static line jumps are from 4,000'. Your third, fourth and fifth static line jumps, also from 4,000', include a practice pull to get you ready for your sixth jump, your first, non-static, three second freefall jump.

Your next jump is a 5 second freefall jump. Then a 10 second freefall jump, then 4 x 15 second jumps, and so on until 16 jumps are completed and you are qualified for you 'A' license and cleared to jump from 14,000'.

Static Line Course Packages:

First Jump Course

1 jump. One full day.
Complete the First Jump Training Course - a full day of theory and ground training. 
Make your jump in the afternoon or the next morning
Receive your First Jump Certificate, log book and T-shirt.

First Freefall Package

6 jumps over 3 days. 
Complete Stages 1 and 2 of the Static-Line course over a 3 day period (weather permitting).
This is an ideal package for people who want to check it out without committing to the full course and for travellers with time and financial restraints. Stage 1 consists of 5 Static-Line Jumps and Stage 2 will be your first complete unassisted freefall.
This package includes all the above plus 4 more static line jumps and your first freefall.

A Licence Package

17 jumps over 7-10 days. Full course.
This package includes all the training jumps required to acieve your A Licence certificate from the Australian Parachute Federation. The cheapest way to achieve your international A Licence.

NOTE: IT IS POSSIBLE TO SWITCH TO THE AFF PROGRAM AT ANY TIME DURING THE STATIC LINE COURSE.
