2011 Feedback - Toogoolawah DZ

  • Brian Long - Appreciation, 19th September 2011

I just completed my A-License static-line skydiving course at Ramblers Toogoolawah and am overwhelmed by the entire experience. The staff of Ramblers can be described by six words: friendly, organized, professional, dedicated, patient and extremely experienced.

The adventure got off to a great start with Rebecca at the front desk. She booked my course and answered my many questions and innumerable follow up phone calls. She was friendly, helpful and always patient.

The course began with Wade our instructor giving us a full day on theory and practise to drill into us the equipment and procedures for making skydiving safe and fun. “Belgy” took over my training on day two and mentored me for my remaining static line course. He accompanied and videoed all of my jumps. After each jump I was given a detailed debrief on what I did right and what needed improvement and was always encouraging and helpful.

It is only after you have had a few jumps and see these guys in action as teachers and mentors that you begin to fully appreciate how professional and dedicated they really are. Of course there is all the behind the scenes activities to support the skydiving – you do not notice it because it runs so smoothly. Rodney and Rebecca do a brilliant job organizing and monitoring all the loads and even guiding students in for their landing. Nothing is missed with Rodney and Makka there overseeing everything – even your jumps and landings are monitored from the ground by these guys and other instructors.

Because I was camping at the drop zone I got to experience the camaraderie of the Ramblers staff and felt honoured when asked to join in with their relaxation after a day’s jumping. I was treated as though I was part of the family right from the start. And the thing you soon realize after staying there for a few days is that Ramblers is a family. Even during the busy weekends the atmosphere remains friendly, warm and relaxed. Saturday night the canteen ladies cook up a hearty home cooked dinner and are there throughout the weekend for sandwiches, hamburgers, coffee and motherly advice and humour.

After I completed my A-License my daughter began pestering me about skydiving and even though she is only 16 I felt so comfortable with the Instructors and the atmosphere at Ramblers that I signed her up as well for an A-License static-line course. Wade started her off with the theory as well as supervising her first 4 or 5 jumps but was called off to do other AFF training when things got very busy. She was not left alone but was incredibly privileged to have Makka and Rodney personally step in to take over her training. Other outstanding instructors like Phil were always there to provide advice and humour. Even the Pilot Roger livened up the flights and evenings with his unique and brilliant wit and humour.

I now know an excellent way to spend my weekends with my family and hope I get a chance to spend many more of them skydiving at Ramblers.

Thanks guys!!

Brian Long

  • Wayne Lyngkuist, 13th August 2011 - "Thank you to the Team"

Hi Team,

Thank you so much to all involved with my first night tandem jump tonight. Words fail to describe the exhilaration and the pure adrenalin rush that came with it. The experience will never fade I can assure you.

Next step is the Addiction Package starting October 3 and I just can't wait to get up there again with you guys.

Special thanks to Macca for making Marion and I feel so welcome at the DZ today and, to Kimbo, what can I say, your experience and professionalism was obvious from the moment I met you and I knew I was in safe hands the whole way from the jump to the landing. Thank you very much...

Special thanks also to the team at Ramblers Coolum Beach for getting me through my first four tandem jumps... Love your experience and professionalism as well as your mentoring! And Marios, you were there tonight... It was a big bonus for me to share that first night jump with you...

OK, so five tandems so far with five different tandem masters. I'm sure you have a few more lurking in the wings, as it were...

You guys and gals ROCK!

Blue Skies :-)

Dear Bec, Macca and Crew,

I completed my AFF yesterday and just wanted to send a MASSIVE thanks!

It has been a long held goal and I am stoked to have now finished. Also, I am looking forward to continuing through to my A’s, B’s and beyond!

Especially wanted to say thanks to Belgy, Phil and Wade who are very professional in their feedback and helpful.

Looking forward to jumping again soon!

Tim

For the attention of Chief Instructor Dave McEvoy.

Macca,

I wanted to write to let you know what a fantastic time I've been having during the Static Line Skydiving course out at Ramblers Toogoolawah. I'm amazed to think how quickly I've progressed from leaping off the flying fox, to free falling from seven thousand feet, deploying my own parachute, and landing accurately on the target. All the while meeting some great people out at the drop zone!

What I have really liked about the Static Line program, is that once you have left the aircraft, you are all on your own. I found it very satisfying achieving the various goals of the program 'under my own steam' as it were. Plus, it's 1000 dollars cheaper to boot! I think that this more traditional method of teaching is definitely an excellent way to get into the sport of skydiving.

Although I'm only ten or so jumps in, I can say that without a doubt, this the greatest thing I've ever done in my life so far! Nothing beats that intense adrenalin rush of throwing yourself out into the roaring wind, combined with the serenity of the gentle canopy ride back to Earth.

I can't wait to come back for more!

Regards,

Zac Turton

Hi guys,

Yesterday was a life changing experience, for years i have heard about and watched sky diving and thought one day i would like to do that. That day happened yesterday at the Toogoolawah dz and from the moment i got there it was nothing but professional , Bec welcomed me in a very openly and friendly nature that made the feel relaxed and homely. The way she went about explaining about the facility and everything it has to cater for made me quite excited and that just entice me to want to have a go!

So next thing i know i am suiting up and i'm walking to the plane with Belgy who has also made this experince so memerable, in every way he went about briefing me just his nature and the sheer (is this a word) Awesomeness! of the ride /freefall/ landing everything went well all i can say from how i feel it went perfect. Belgy has amazing ability and confidence Big raps go to the guy, only now that i have had time to asses it more precisely cause i was buzzing hard yesterday that both Bec and Belgy had given me determination to get back there and do the course to start skydiving, Even everyone on the plane and at the facility were all to me quite humble and positive people and i would like to be a part of that culture.

Yeah Welldone guys!

Look forward to gettng back out there to start on a new chapter.

Cheers Steven Wenzel.

Subject: The start of the most exciting journey!

Hi guys!

I completed my AFF under the expert guidance of Steve Geens (Belgy). Belgy, you are the MAN! It was, without a doubt, the most exciting thing I have done... and I'm just starting!!! And talk about timing!? I was lucky enough to be at Ramblers when the wingsuit camp was being held. An awesome experience in every sense of the word. I didn't meet anyone I didn't like immediately. I recommend Ramblers without a shadow of a doubt! Come for the skydiving, stay for the people.

Cheers
