DZ Round-up #12
Hi Gang,
I’m back from holidaying on my mates Dicky Drieu and Roz’s boat.

We went up the Great Sandy Straits for a couple of weeks and saw heaps of whales.

Brother John and my girlfriend Ali also came along. We only ran aground once!!

It’s great to be back. I’ll pick up the story from when I did get back, last Tuesday 25th October, and thanks to Rebecca for getting out the last Newsletter. It was great! Actually just before I left I did Phil Kemper’s tandem rating, what a blast.

As reported last NL he finished it while I was away. On ya Phil! As soon as I got back they got me back to work. Egon and Margaret’s nieces on holidays from Denmark did a tandem.

Congratulation also to Dan Edmonds and Jon Sirasch who both knocked over Stage 9. Michelle Hyde was also back during the week ploughing through her AFF course. She has been a bit hampered by bad weather and running into Tezza at the bar!
Congratulations also to Louis Tresise, Reilly Cartlidge, James McFarlane and Steve Hawke who all passed their AFF Instructor’s Rating under Belgie, with Wade, Phil and Justin Frame acting loonie students! Well done and what a week they had, check the videos next time you’re at the DZ!

The weekend was looking good but the weather (again) wasn’t cooperating Saturday morning. The cloud finally broke up and John McMahon got the big-ways going. We ended up getting nine loads done. The dz 4-way team, now named Brute Fource did 6 training jumps.

Mat Coles managed to pack himself a mal and his freebag landed 50’ up an impossible to get at tree branch. No problems though, Dead-eye Dave (me) shot it down! The big-ways ended up successful (see John’s report with photos). About 33 regular jumpers got their knees in the breeze Saturday. Congratulations Gavin McKinnon – star crest.

We also did five tandems. And gidday to our newest AFF student Adrian Haira. Michelle Hyde got Stages 7&8 done. Alexey Rutkevich did stages 6&7.

...and Adrian Bramwell did 4 jumps Saturday.
Sunday started the same as Saturday – solid cloud from 3-5 grand! Painful. It ended up lifting up so Adrian Haira got stages 2&3 done. Brute Fource did another 5 jumps. Christine Clarke brought her mate Alixx Cameron along for a tandem Peter Barnett took Louis for a CRW jump. Kirstin Moriarty was back jumping. Selwen and Anna-Marie Johnson from South Africa joined the DZ die-hards for some more rw jumps. So did Stewie McNee and Doug Pryor...

And I jumped my new demo canopy, a Crossfire 149 with logo.

Hey all,
Well after a crappy start to the day we ended up doing 4 jumps, a starcrest load, congrat’s Gavin, still waiting on the carton and then three 16ways.

Well fall rates were variable but it just goes to show that even when docked KEEP FLYING.

Last jump was very interesting, Jane (The First Lady) was last in the stack up with John Leach, myself, Stewie, Blano and Macca diving. Something happened and Jane ended up on the floor with everybody going over the top of her (she heard me laughing), except for Macca who graciously let her go. She still beat us all there, bloody hell she can dive! We had a couple out on that one but it was fun.

Then the KAOS really began! The landing arrow had changed on the way to height and not everyone noticed, thanks for the beers Leachy and Frank!
This weekend coming is Saturday Club Day- $2 discount on jumps done during the day, free evening meal, 10 jump draw and for all club members. Gonna run scramble speed stars, 2 or maybe 3 rounds, then a big way to finish the day.So get there early, get registered and we’ll get going. Also there will be a club meeting after dinner (quick meeting is a good meeting), we’ve got some important things to vote on, (huge pay increase for the President, Treasurer and Secretary), actually why doesn’t everybody just sign over their votes to me, then we don’t need meetings anymore- benevolent Dictator John, I like it.
