Who knew that a chance meeting of two teenagers at a swimming camp on Australia's Gold Coast would lead, some years later, to an international touring act playing shows to crowds of 50,000?
Marty Xennoff and Max[ine] Harman, founders of The On Fires, have been touring internationally since 2007 and have built up their touring route to include four continents. Playing all manner of venues from Army outposts in the Pacific; clubs and colleges in Australia and the US; festivals in Europe and China, the fiery three-piece (including drummer Kent Aberle from Atlanta, Georgia) receive consistently ecstatic responses from audiences around the world.
Xennoff intrigues guitarists and audiences alike, playing bass and guitar at the same time; while Harman roams the stage - vintage keys in hand. Comparisons to other bands have included Flaming Lips, Devo, Arcade Fire, Blondie, Black Sabbath, B52s, Hot Hot Heat, Queen, FooFighters, Smashing Pumpkins, The Clash, Green Day, Stereophonics, Siouxsie and The Banshees, Sex Pistols even Elvis Costello!
LEGLESS consists of a couple of highly charged rock chicks that came together via fate and the gods of rebellion and rock.
Inspired by Alice Cooper, KISS and Aussie greats such as ACDC, The Divinyls and The Living End, the Ladies of Leglesshave been setting stages alight since 2005.
With two full length indie albums and a third on the way, Legless have been on countless Aussie outback road adventures all across Australia, they’ve played a stack of Festivals, touring from Japan to Afghanistan, playing for punks, troops, indigenous and downright indignatious audiences across the globe. Carving a crooked path, Legless are a shining light for the non believers of commercial pop music, creating original punk gems of golden heights.
Songs such as ‘Get My Knickers Off” and the JPF award winning “Drinking tonight” has spawned a legion of Legless believers.
“The Cherries” are a side project for Kylie Cowling and Sherree Newton, who have been performing together in the all girl punk rock band "Legless" and instrumental surf band "Cosmic Bikini" since 2005.
Kylie and Sherree know about a million songs between them, and enjoy throwing it together, quite successfully and mostly un-rehearsad to pay tribut to the popular music of our time, pleasing audiences in mostly intimate venues.
It is not uncommon for the Cherries to perform requests. Audience participation is one of the highlights of their act The warm sound of two acoustic guitars combined with two part vocal harmonies gives these girls a voluptuous full sound scape. Please feel free to request your song!
The Cherries will celebrate the Australian pub rock tradition performing Aussie rock songs from bands such as Living End, Silverchair, The Vines, ACDC, Crowded House, Hunters and Collectors, The Divinyls, Masters Apprentices, Daddy Cool, Rose Tattoo, The Angels, Screaming Jets and more.
